(pleasant) (Ezra 2:15; Neh. 7:20; 10:16) — the proper name of one person. Some take the name Adin, as it stands in 2 Esdras (v. 15 [as given]), to be the name of a locality, since the statement in chapter 7, verse 20, of Nehemiah, that a single person had 655 sons, seems improbable; but it should be noted that the word “children,” or “sons,” in this and similar cases, generally stands for descendants, in which sense it is very often used.
