Grace

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(1 Tim. 1:2)—God’s free and gracious gift, given not as a wage owed to human merit but from divine mercy. The word may also denote God’s active favor and power at work in the human heart, forgiving, healing, strengthening, and sanctifying. In Christian theology grace does not abolish human response; it awakens and enables faith, obedience, and communion with God.
