Gozan

(defile, ravine, perhaps a quarry, from a root meaning to break into pieces) — a river in Assyria, on whose banks the captive Israelites were settled by Pul, Tiglath-pileser, and Shalmaneser (2 Kings 17:6; 18:11; 1 Chron. 5:26). The location of this river and the surrounding region is variously determined. Most likely, it flowed through Gauzanitis (a Median city) or Mygdonia. Near Gozan flowed the Habor (now the Khabur), a tributary of the Euphrates. The region neighboring Gozan was apparently Halah.
