Jiphthah-el

(valley of God, that is, the valley that God opened) (Josh 19:14, 27) - a valley lying on the boundary between the tribes of Zebulun and Asher. In Robinson's opinion, Jiphthah-el was identical with Josephus's Jotapata, and traces of the name still remained in Jefat among the mountains of Galilee. It would therefore be none other than the great present-day Wadi Abilin, which begins in the mountains near Jefat and extends westward.
