Lo-debar

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(without pasture, a barren place) (2 Sam 9:4-5) - a city of Gilead east of the Jordan, where Mephibosheth, Saul's grandson, hid until David summoned him (2 Sam 9:4-5). Machir of Lo-debar brought provisions to David at Mahanaim (2 Sam 17:27). Some equated Lo-debar with Debir in Joshua 13:26, but the source calls this groundless conjecture. Its precise location remained unknown.
