Ziba Siba

(pillar; foundation)—the name of two persons. (1) (2 Sam. 9:2) a servant from Saul’s household through whom David learned that Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth was still alive. When David restored Saul’s property to Mephibosheth, Ziba again served the estate. Thereafter his name remains linked with Mephibosheth in an unfavorable light: while David fled from Absalom, Ziba deceitfully misrepresented his master to the king and sought thereby to secure the property for himself. See Mephibosheth. (2) (1 Kings 4:3, source form) the father of two scribes under Solomon; the standard biblical form is Shisha.
