Lot's wife

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Luke 17:31-32) - 'Remember Lot's wife,' the Lord said in a discourse concerning Jerusalem's destruction and the end of the world. Her transformation into a pillar of salt was a special divine punishment for transgression. Metropolitan Philaret explains that her sin consisted not merely in looking at Sodom but in disobeying God's command and clinging to the dwelling place of corruption.
