New Testament Pascha

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

—the highest, most joyful, and at the same time most ancient Christian feast: the Resurrection of Christ. The events of the Lord’s death on the Cross and resurrection from the dead are the foundation and center of all Christianity. The apostles began their preaching with this event; upon it they based everything, and in it they united everything (Acts 2:22–24; 3:12–26; 4:10–12). Around the Savior’s death and resurrection the Apostle Paul gathers all the loftiest doctrines of our faith and all our highest hopes (1 Cor. 15).

Scripture cited
