Phlegon
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(burning; Rom. 16:14)—a Christian in Rome greeted by Paul together with Asyncritus, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the brothers and sisters with them. Later tradition numbers Phlegon among the Seventy Apostles and calls him a bishop in the region of Thrace; these details are not stated in Romans. Orthodox tradition commemorates him on April 8 and with the Seventy on January 4.
