(conqueror of men) — the name of several persons: a) (Rom. 16:7) one of the Seventy Apostles; by tradition, he was bishop in Pannonia. His relics were found in the reign of Arcadius and Honorius, in the year 396. His memory is celebrated on May 17; b) (2 Macc. 4:31–38) one of the honored dignitaries of Antiochus Epiphanes, the Syrian king; c) (2 Macc. 5:23) one of the officials of the same Antiochus Epiphanes.
