Rain

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Gen. 2:5). To understand the force of the various, often-repeated references in Holy Scripture to this natural phenomenon, one must have at least some notion of the seasons in Palestine. In this country rain often falls during what we would call the cold months — from November to April. At this time there are sometimes heavy downpours, with thunder, lightning, and gusting wind, lasting for several days.
