Remphan
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(Acts 7:43; Amos 5:26)—probably the name given to a planet, perhaps Saturn, that was worshiped as a deity. Its image, hidden in a small box or portable shrine, was carried from place to place like other baggage, comparable to the silver shrines mentioned in Acts 19:24 (cf. Isa. 46:7). The Hebrew text of Amos 5:26 has Chiun where Acts gives Remphan.
