(variegated; flourishing)—the name of persons and a place: (1) (Num. 31:8) one of the five Midianite kings slain by Israel in the war against Midian; (2) (1 Chron. 2:43–44) a son of Hebron; (3) (1 Chron. 7:16) a son of Sheresh of Manasseh; and (4) (Josh. 18:27) a city assigned to Benjamin and mentioned only once, probably near Jerusalem, though its exact location was unknown.
