Shulamite

(peaceful; Song 6:13)—the designation of the beloved woman in the Song of Songs. Some have connected the term with Shunem and therefore called her a Shunammite; others understand it as a feminine form related to Solomon or to peace. The text does not settle the etymology, and the encyclopedia’s geographical identification with Shunem is only one proposal.
