(Exod. 25:30; Lev. 24:5–9)—twelve loaves placed continually before the LORD on the golden table in the sanctuary, corresponding to the twelve tribes of Israel. They were arranged in two rows or piles of six, with pure frankincense as a memorial portion. Every Sabbath fresh loaves replaced them, and the previous loaves belonged to Aaron and his sons to eat in a holy place.
