Theft, or robbery

, the secret taking of another’s property, or the open taking of another’s property with violence, is punished by God (Prov. 22:22, 23), brings a curse upon the thief (Deut. 27:17), deprives him of heaven (1 Cor. 6:10). The punishment for theft, according to the Law of Moses, is set forth in the Book of Exodus (22:1–8) and in the prophet Ezekiel (18:12, 13).
