Thisbe

(“elevated place”) (Tob. 1:2)—the home of Tobit, described as lying south of Kedesh-naphtali in Galilee, above Asher. This Galilean Thisbe should not automatically be identified with Elijah’s Tishbe in Gilead. The prophet is called “Elijah the Tishbite, of the settlers of Gilead” (1 Kings 17:1), which points to a Gileadite location even though the precise site is unknown.
