Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

—(1) a judge of Israel, son of Puah and a man of Issachar. He arose after Abimelech, lived at Shamir in the hill country of Ephraim, judged Israel twenty-three years, and was buried there (Judg. 10:1-2). (2) The firstborn son of Issachar and ancestor of the Tolaites (Gen. 46:13; Num. 26:23; 1 Chron. 7:1-2).
