Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Rom. 16:9)—a Christian in Rome whom Paul greets as “our fellow worker in Christ.” Later tradition numbers him among the Seventy Apostles and describes him as a bishop in Macedonia who died as a martyr; these details are not contained in the New Testament. He is commemorated in Orthodox tradition on January 4 and October 31.
