Abihu Abiud

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

[misprinted in the source as “kvii”] (father of strength) — the name of two persons: a) (1 Sam. 9:1; 14:51) father of Kish, father of Saul, of the tribe of Benjamin; b) (1 Chron. 11:32) one of the chief warriors of David, from Arabah. This same person is called, in 2 Samuel 23:31, Abi-albon. [Translator’s note: this headword corresponds to Abiel, not to be confused with the priestly Abihu below.]
