Under this name the books of Maccabees mention the following persons: a) (2 Macc. 3:5; 7:4 [as given]) son of Thraseas, formerly governor of Coele-Syria and Phoenicia, who reported to King Seleucus Philopator on the treasures of the Temple of Jerusalem, as a result of which the king sent Heliodorus to seize them, but God did not permit this;
