Archippus

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(ruler, master of horses) (Col. 4:17; Philem. 1:2) — the name of one of the Seventy Apostles, a fellow-worker of the Apostle Paul. He was bishop in Laodicea of Phrygia, or, by another account, in Colossae, and suffered under Nero together with Philemon and Apphia. His memory is January 4, February 19, and November 22.
