(noisy, murmuring stream) (Deut. 2:24) — a river or stream in the southeast of Palestine, which once formed the border between Moab and the Ammonites, and later between Moab and the tribe of Reuben. Rising in the mountains of the Arabian desert, at one of the stations on the pilgrim road to Mecca, the stream flows into the Dead Sea opposite En-gedi. At present the Arnon is known by the name el-Mojib. In winter the stream is full of water and flows very swiftly, but in summer it almost completely dries up.
