Beth-baal-meon Meelboth
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(dwelling of Baal) (Josh. 13:17) — called Beth-meon by Jeremiah (48:23), a city located in the tribe of Reuben, on the eastern plain of the Jordan, south of Heshbon or Hesbon (Josh. 13:17), and later passed under the rule of the Moabites. Considerable ruins located a short distance southwest of Heshbon are still called by the name of the fortress Main, from which the valley it occupies takes the name: Wadi Zerqa Main.
