Beth-gamul

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(house of the camel) (Jer. 48:23) — a city of Moab, on the eastern side of the Jordan. In some opinions, this is the settlement Umm el-Jemal, southeast of Bosra, but its present location is not exactly known. In any case, in this pastoral country this name (Jemal) is not infrequently found among the Arabs.
