(a deep bowl, vessels with a flat bottom and low sides) (Exod. 25:29; 37:16; 2 Kings 21:13; Ezra 1:9; Num. 7:13; Matt. 26:23) — vessels used by the Hebrews for various purposes, both sacred and ordinary, and of various forms. Sometimes they were covered with lids. The evangelists’ expression “he that dippeth his hand with me in the dish” (Matt. 26:23; Mark 14:20) indicates that Judas reclined at the Last Supper near the Lord Jesus.
