(fortunate, prosperous, Greek) (Acts 20:9) — the name of a young man of Troas who, during the lengthy discourse of the Apostle Paul, sitting in a window, sank into a deep sleep and, overcome by drowsiness, fell down from the third story and was taken up dead; the Apostle Paul, however, miraculously restored him to life. Judging by the construction of present-day eastern houses, undoubtedly very similar to the houses of the most ancient times, it may be thought that such an occurrence could easily have happened, since windows among the Hebrews were usually covered with curtains, screens, or lattices, and sometimes stood open altogether (see House, dwellings).
