Derbe

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(the meaning of the word is unknown) (Acts 20:4) — a city in Lycaonia, Asia Minor. Its exact location is unknown. Gaius and Timothy, it is thought, were natives of Derbe. St. Paul the Apostle visited this city during his first and second missionary journeys (Acts 14:19–26; 16:1), and, very probably, also during his third.
