Hiram Chiram

(2 Sam. 5:11; 1 Kings 5:1–18; 9:10–14; 10:11)—king of Tyre and a contemporary and ally of David and Solomon. He sent cedar, carpenters, and masons to build David’s house. After David’s death, Hiram continued the alliance with Solomon and supplied cedar and cypress timber and skilled workers for the Temple and royal buildings. Solomon in return provided wheat and oil and later assigned Hiram twenty towns in Galilee, which displeased him (1 Kings 5; 9:10–14).
