Baal-perazim

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(lord of breaches, defeats) (2 Sam. 5:20) — a place in the valley of Rephaim, several miles southwest of Jerusalem, where David defeated the Philistines, and David said at that time: “The Lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters” (2 Sam. 5:20). The name in the original is significant, as an allusion to this victory, and it is to this very victory that reference is made in the Book of the Prophet Isaiah (28:21).
