Gabbai, or Geba

(2 Sam. 5:25) (hill) — a border city on the north of the tribe of Benjamin, also called Geba of Benjamin, and Geba. Hence the expression: “from Geba to Beersheba” (2 Kings 23:8) means the whole length of the territory of the tribe of Benjamin. Near Geba the Philistines were routed by David’s army (2 Sam. 5:25). Past Geba, from Ai and Michmash, in the direction of Jerusalem, passed the army of the Assyrians (Isa. 10:29). According to learned investigators, biblical Geba corresponds to the present-day village of Jeba, situated on a picturesque hill, a few versts to the south of Mukhmas, or biblical Michmash.
