Hobab

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(beloved; Num. 10:29; Judg. 4:11)—a Midianite or Kenite relative of Moses, called the son of Reuel. Moses asked him to guide Israel in the wilderness. The Hebrew kinship term can mean father-in-law or another relation by marriage, so the precise relationship among Hobab, Reuel, and Jethro has been interpreted in different ways.
