Obed-Edom

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(2 Sam. 6:10–12) — a man of Gath, in whose house David placed the Ark of the Covenant for a time, after Uzzah was struck dead for attempting to touch it. The three months’ sojourn of the Ark in the house of Obed-Edom brought down upon him and his household an abundant blessing of God. In the Hebrew text he is read as Oved-Edom (1 Chron. 15:25).
