(strength, might) (2 Sam. 6:3)—son of the Levite Abinadab. After the victory over the Philistines, David wished to bring the Ark of God from the house of Abinadab, in Baale-judah, to Jerusalem. During the solemn transporting of the Ark upon a new cart, driven by Uza and Ahio, the oxen stumbled and jolted the Ark at the threshing floor of Nachon. Uza put forth his hand to the Ark to steady it and took hold of it, and for this presumption he was punished by God with instant death beside the Ark of God. The place where this happened was named the Breach of Uza (2 Sam. 6:6-8, 1 Chron. 13:7-11).
