Pi-hahiroth

(according to Egyptian, a place of grass or reeds; according to Hebrew, mouth of the caves) (Ex. 14:2, 9)—an encampment of the Hebrews in the wilderness shortly after their departure from Egypt. It stood near the northern gulf of the Red Sea and east of Baal-zephon. Some investigators identified it with Ajrud, or Agroud, a small fortress with a bitter spring on the road from Cairo to Mecca, about four hours northwest of Suez.
