(Acts 28:13)—a city of Campania in southern Italy on the Bay of Naples. Paul stopped there on his way to Rome and, after the repeated dangers of his difficult voyage, found brethren with whom he remained seven days. The harbor was a convenient anchorage where ships from Egypt and other Eastern lands commonly stopped and unloaded. The city’s modern name is Pozzuoli; it is especially notable for its ruins and historical associations.
