Seba

—an ancient word of uncertain origin, used in Scripture both as a personal name and as the name of a people. (1) (Gen. 10:7) a son of Cush and perhaps his firstborn. (2) (Isa. 45:14) a country, city, or people. The source identifies this Seba with an African region in Meroë, which Josephus says was anciently called Saba, and reports that its chief city bore the same name. Nineteenth-century travelers placed it among ruins about four miles from the Nubian town of Shendi in Dar al-Atbara.
