Shiloh
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(Hebrew Shiloh, here understood as the Reconciler). Ancient translators and interpreters, together with the Fathers of the Church, understand this word as a title of the Messiah. It occurs in Jacob’s prophecy to Judah: “The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be” (Gen. 49:10).
