Tabitha (Dorcas)
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(gazelle; Acts 9:36–42)—a disciple at Joppa, full of good works and almsgiving. When she died, the widows showed Peter the tunics and garments she had made. Peter sent everyone out, prayed, and said, “Tabitha, arise.” She opened her eyes, sat up, and was restored alive to the believers. The miracle became known throughout Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.
