The gift of tongues

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(1 Cor. 12, 13, 14) — a special gift of God distinguishing the apostolic Church. To rightly understand this gift, one must distinguish between the gift of tongues bestowed upon the apostles on the day of Pentecost, with the descent upon them of the Holy Spirit in the form of tongues of fire, and the granting of tongues to believers (Acts 2:1–18).

Scripture cited

Acts 2:1
