Timnah

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Judg. 14:1-5)—a town in the territory associated with Dan and the Philistine borderlands, west of Jerusalem. Samson saw a Philistine woman there and insisted on marrying her despite his parents’ objections; Judges interprets the episode within the LORD’s purpose of seeking an occasion against the Philistines, without presenting Samson’s desire as a general model for marriage. The site is commonly associated with Tel Batash.

Scripture cited

Judges 14:1
