Tin

(Num. 31:22)—a well-known metal, in use from the earliest times and forming one of the articles of trade with Tyre (Ezek. 27:12). Tin, together with other metals, was mined in antiquity on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean [as printed: “Western Ocean”]. To the dross of tin, copper, iron, and lead the people of Israel are compared, remaining incorrigible, despite all God’s warnings, in all their wickedness and vile abominations (Ezek. 22:18).
