(white, pure)—the name of several persons: (1) one of the five kings of Midian killed when Israel fought Midian in Moses’ time (Num. 31:8; Josh. 13:21); (2) a descendant associated with Caleb and the ancestry of Bethlehem (1 Chron. 2:19-20, 50; 4:4; see the earlier entry Hor); (3) a descendant of Judah (1 Chron. 4:1); (4) the father of Rephaiah, ruler of half the district of Jerusalem, who helped repair the wall under Nehemiah (Neh. 3:9).
