Ahinoam

Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(brother of grace) — the name of two persons: a) (1 Sam. 14:50) daughter of Ahimaaz and wife of Saul; b) (1 Sam. 25:43) a woman of Jezreel, one of David’s wives. She was taken captive by the Amalekites at the sack of Ziklag, and afterward freed from captivity by David (1 Sam. 30:18). Ahinoam was the mother of David’s eldest son, Amnon (2 Sam. 3:2).
