Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia

(Exod. 6:18) (people of the Most High) — son of Kohath and grandson of Levi; he married Jochebed, his aunt, by whom he had the sons Aaron and Moses, and a daughter, Miriam (Num. 26:59). Such marriages were later forbidden by the Law (Lev. 18:12). He died at the age of 137 (Exod. 6:20). His faith is attested by St. Paul the Apostle (Heb. 11:23). From him descended the clan of Amram.
