Barbarians

(Rom. 1:14; Col. 3:11) — this word originally denoted all the peoples of the earth except the Greeks. As a result, the population of the whole world was divided into Greeks and barbarians. Hence the word “barbarian” denotes a foreigner, one who does not speak the language of the native country. In the Book of Acts (28:2), in the epistle to the Romans (1:14), and to the Colossians (3:11), the word “barbarian” denotes a person who belonged neither to the Jews nor to the Greeks.
