(destruction, ruin) — the name of three men: a) (Gen. 36:31, 32) son of Beor, king of Edom, who reigned in Dinhabah, whom some take to be Balaam; b) (Gen. 46:21) eldest son of Benjamin, head of the family of the Belaites; c) (1 Chron. 5:8, 9) son of Azaz, of the tribe of Reuben, whose dwelling place is described thus: “He dwelt in Aroer, even unto Nebo and Baal-meon: and eastward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from the river Euphrates, because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.”
