Coriander seed

(Exod 16:31; Num 11:7) - coriander is an annual plant or small shrub growing in Egypt, Palestine, China, and southern Europe, and especially cultivated in the English county of Essex in the source's day. Its rounded, fragrant seeds are pleasant when dried and were often sold candied in eastern markets. Exodus says that grains of manna in the wilderness resembled coriander seed. Egyptians ate the leaves raw as salad greens and used the seed to season food.
