(place abounding in gold) (Deut. 1:1) — name of a locality in the Arabian desert, mentioned in the cited passage, where Moses delivered his final address to the Israelites; but the locality is spoken of so indefinitely that it is scarcely possible to indicate its exact position. Some, including Dr. Robinson, think it identical with the present-day Dahab, a cape on the western shore of the Gulf of Aqaba, with a harbor and date palms. Its name, according to some, it may have received from the plates of mica found here in great quantity, glittering like gold.
