Jattir
Archimandrite Nikifor’s Biblical Encyclopedia
(preeminent) (Josh 15:48) - a city in the tribe of Judah given to the sons of Aaron (Josh 21:14). David had friends there and found refuge there shortly before Saul's death (1 Sam 30:27, 31). The city is thought to have been in the hill country, and Robinson identified it with the contemporary village of Attir, halfway between Hebron and Beersheba. The identification is very plausible.
